Working Hard Means Getting Your Hands Dirty & Not Giving Up!

On October 6th, 2018, the 8th annual Twin Cities Slut Walk was held at Father Hennepin Park. In my post from last year I explained what is slut walk and how it all began- if you would like to learn more about it, check out my post from last yeat: https://www.unspokenvoices.net/survivor-stories/2017/10/16/lets-talk-slutwalk?rq=slut%20 .

If I am being honest, I was feeling a bit defeated and depleted. Defeated due to the Kavanaugh hearing and continuous rants/tweets from those individuals in positions of power on our government. Depleted due to how much energy I put towards following the Kavanaugh hearing, hearing stories of rape and sexual assault victims, and telling my father about my own sexual assault. But, alas- I am a woman who will continue to fight!

There was something in the air that day that I feel we all felt.  There was an announcement of the Kavanaugh confirmation and it was almost as if I could feel everyone's disappointment and exhaustion. That day, hundreds of us came together to say enough! Enough misogyny, victim-blaming, and rape culture. Enough of people abusing power in the name of justice and enough of our broken system. We are not afraid to continue fighting and we are determined to get see justice done.
